A draft version of Peru’s new Forestry Law is already out. Only 5 months remain before Peru has to comply with all the conditions required in the Forestry Addendum of the Free Trade Agreement signed with the USA; and the Lacey Act in the States has now been widened to include heavy sentences for those who import illegal wood into the USA. Given this new panorama the RAL, with the support of TRAFFIC and the Environmental Investigation Agency is organizing an event this Friday in Iquitos to debate the new situation. |
